Nokia Essence Bluetooth Headset Unboxing

15 Jan

Recently I got myself a new toy and it’s kinda new on the market and not a lot of sites already got their hands on this little badboy, so I thought I would share it with you, my dear readers (are you guys still there? I didn’t post anything in a loooong time so let me know in the comments if you’re actually reading this ;) ). Ladies and gents, here it is – Nokia Essence (BH-610) in all its glory, latest and greatest Nokia Bluetooth in-ear headset with NFC and Active Noise Cancellation. The packaging contains a lot of useful accessories (accessories for an accessory, lol to that!) such as 6 different sizes of earpieces, a carrying pouch and a neckband. Are you interested in reading a short review of these? If so let me know in the comments below and I’ll consider a little write-up. Cheers!

Easter egg found in Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich

19 Oct

Android Ice Cream Sandwich is finally here and we as most of geeks do went ahead and downloaded the latest SDK just to play with it on our own. After checking all the major things inside the system itself I went to about page, just as I usually do to check all the details and I suddenly recalled the Gingerbread Easter egg that someone found some time ago. To find it, you had to click on the android version number a couple of times and then the scary gingerbread man painting showed up. Without any further ado, I started clicking on version string like crazy and look what showed up. Almost the same one as in Honeycomb! Those sneaky Google devs… ;-)

Google Chrome for Android to be unveiled alongside Ice Cream Sandwich?

16 Oct

Many people wonder why Google still haven’t made the mobile version of their browser – Chrome. The biggest players in the field of web browsers already have android versions of their browsers for long time. Only Google itself is somewhat reluctant to the introduction of its product on its own mobile platform. Recently, there were some first confirmed information posted about ongoing work. My today’s discovery seems to be even more significant. After installing the new, recently leaked Ice Cream Sandwich launcher a google search widget appeared which contains Google Chrome icon. Just take a look on the screenshot above.

What does this mean for us? This may be a sign that Google plans to integrate the Google Chrome browser in the upcoming version of Android or that it will simply be presented during the Samsung and Google event in HongKong next week. Time will tell, however there’s definitely something going on.

Edit.

Later on I found out that my discovery was completely pointless because of the fact, that the launcher I found was just a fan-made piece of code. I’m always pissed when bloggers don’t check their sources before posting and now the same thing happened to me. Well, karma got me…

Vertu Constellation Quest spotted to have a higher resolution screen

8 Nov

When I first saw live pictures of Vertu Constellation Quest revealed by HardWorkingBee.com I didn’t realize the one major thing about the handset. Today I when looked at the pictures more closely I noticed that the screen definitely looks much sharper than QVGA (320×240) resolution. It’s hard to tell what resolution it is exactly but it must be something much bigger. I have chosen three, best looking pics and edited them so that it looks like actual screenshots. You can click on the pics to see them in full resolution, but keep in mind that those are pictures, not actual screens snaps. (more…)

Nokia Z500 Tablet leaked by Ovi Store

31 Oct

Nokia is definitely going to take advantage of MeeGo not only in handsets but also in tablets. We last heard about Nokia Z500 tablet back in June thanks to Eldar Murtazin. Now we have some kind of confirmation by Nokia itself. Nokia Z500 appeared in Nokia Ovi Store listing just like recent Nokia X7-00 which undoubtedly means something.

You can check it yourself by hitting the link:

http://store.ovi.com/?terminalId=Z500

There’s no content available right now for Z500 which is pretty obvious – it’ll probably run MeeGo which is totally new OS and there are no apps available for it at the moment.

Nokia N8 Unboxing video

23 Oct

It’s finally here. In my hands. Long awaited Nokia N8. What should I say in here? Everything is just like expected. My first impressions are extremely good in every aspect of the device.

As usual – I made the unboxing video for your viewing pleasure :)

Here’s the short list of the box contents:

  • Nokia N8 mobile computer
  • Nokia Battery BL-4D
  • Nokia Connectivity Cable CA-179
  • Nokia Stereo Headset WH-701
  • Nokia Compact Travel Charger AC-15
  • Nokia Adapter Cable for HDMI CA-156
  • Nokia Adapter Cable for USB OTG CA-157
  • Quick start guide

If you want to ask something about the device – don’t hesitate to do it. Even the hardcore ones. I’m not afraid of flashing, modding and playing around with Torxes.

Easter eggs in Nokia S60 smartphones

18 Oct

Easter eggs. Some of you might not be familiar with that term so let me use Wikipedia to explain it to you.

“A virtual Easter egg is an intentional hidden message, in-joke or feature in an object such as a movie, book, CD, DVD, computer program, web page or video game.”

Nokians know that pretty well. Over the years I saw a few examples of that. In this article I would like to show you them. (more…)

Nokia 6700 slide – an entry level smartphone for a geek girl (review)

17 Oct

Overview

‘An entry level smartphone for a geek girl’ – that sentence summarizes everything. Nokia 6700 slide might not look like a smartphone but it is. You won’t find here Wi-Fi or GPS but it’s equipped with normal 3G/HSDPA connectivity so if you have a data plan lack of Wi-Fi won’t be such a big deal. Some people might think that without these things we can’t name any phone a smartphone but they’re wrong. What makes this little thing (95.2 x 46.1 x 15.9 mm) ‘Smart’ is of course the OS. 6700 slide is based on Symbian S60 3rd edition Feature Pack 2. OK, we know that it’s not top of the line model but why I suggest that it’s aimed to women? The form factor is the key. Sliders are usually addressed to women in my humble opinion. The sales package is quite good. You get additional 2GB microSD card (but you can use even 16GB without problems – I tested it), CA-101D USB cable, fast AC-8 charger and WH-101 stereo headset .

Professional magazine photo shoot made with Nokia N8′s camera

16 Oct

Yeah, you read it right. Nokia N8 was used to make a professional photo shoot for the polish VIVA Magazine. Photos not only shows the latest trends in fashion but also a great potential of N8′s camera. Models? Famous duo in polish fashion circles – Zuza Krajewska and Bartek Wieczorek. Place? Old, deserted park lot in Warsaw city centre. I’m not into fashion so I won’t judge the value of this art, I just wanted to point out how awesome is the camera itself. I know that the pictures were photoshopped but… Every single picture that ends up in a magazine is photoshopped so that’s just normal, right? Anyways, it’s good to see such marketing actions. That kind of product placement can lead to many new potential N8 owners.

Here are some more pictures from the photoshoot: (more…)

Successor of Nokia E72 is coming but sadly you can’t afford it

15 Oct

You probably seen the new Vertu Constellation Quest news recently but it looks like no one noticed that it’s running Symbian S60v3 FP2. I spotted a video on YouTube about the process of making those shiny beauties where the UI was shown just for a second. You can see the familiarly looking scheme. How do I found out that it’s S60v3 FP2? Simple – there are indicators of both signal and battery in top corners, notifications and clock in the bottom. Just like in the E72. Another thing proving my theory is the keypad with Shift, Sym, Ctrl etc. and dedicated calendar, phonebook and messaging buttons. (more…)
